Bonusode - Heroes of the North Pt. 2

She flirts like a butterfly and stings like a bee!

In a quick follow-up to Monty's interview with Heroes of the North series creator Christian Viel, he pressed a bit to get one of the characters featured at their Fan Expo booth aside to spill some words.

The lovely Marie-Claude Bourbonnais (who plays the villainess Hornet on the show) was dressed in full costume and stealing some glances from male and female con-goers alike. Had to find an image to attach, because otherwise it just wouldn't be fair to our listeners.

The show has been developing into a sort of G.I. Joe meets the Avengers, with a Canadian spin, of course. This season started out with the origins of each of the superheros, and now has brought in their rogues gallery. Including the lovely Hornet, who works for Medusa Industries, where all the bad shit goes down.

Listen to her interview here. And while you're at it, subscibe to us over here at iTunes.

If you like what you hear about the show, watch the episodes over at their website and you can also listen to our review of their show way back in Episode, the Third.

Bonusode - Heroes of the North Pt. 1

In the earlier days of LR, we reviewed a series called "Heroes of the North" as they were just emerging. Now, months later, we get to catch up with them again and find out what they've been up to behind the scenes. Series creator Christian Viel gave as a healthy dose of update on what the maple-flavoured superhero league has been up to. They've been steadily releasing new episodes but also dishing out comics online for side-story goodness. And a brief word on the possibility for season 2. Then Monty got a date with one of the series villains...

...but that's for part two. To be continued!

Listen for it here. Or subscibe to us over here at iTunes.

Bonusode - "Dead Genesis" Reese Eveneshen & Peter Szabo @ FanExpo 2011

Man, that Reese. Good friend of mine he is. Funny guy. He kills me everytime we see each other.

...no, for real. He literally KILLS me every single time we cross paths. He smiles, waves hello and then stabs me. Or guts me. Sometimes he gets fancy and slits my throat. At least in a mocking-gesture kind of way.

Nevertheless, normally this kind of behaviour would be alarming, but if you ever met the guy you would understand perfectly. A good way to get a glimpse of his twisted world would be to watch his latest flick, the zombie-apocalypse horror "Dead Genesis".

Reese has been making movies for years, most of them of the horror variety. Now I don't mean just "keep-you-up-at-night" horror. More like "ah-so-THIS-is-what-it-feels-like-to-have-my-mind-fucked" horror. Hm, actually feels tingly.

The story breaks down like this: the zombie invasion has already happened. Didn't see that coming, did ya? What, did you sleep through it? Yup, the world has become overrun with the walking dead and humanity has been reduced to small factions of soldiers who continue to fight the "War on Dead". Jillian Hurst is our attractive heroine (yay!), a documentarian who joins up with a group of zombie-hunters called the Deadheads. Capturing their interviews and activities on camera for a propaganda film, she witnesses the brutality of the war through their eyes.

And blood! Oh, a-and guts! And eating children! And lots and lots of zombies biting, tearing, clawing, ripping, maiming, groaning...!

Oops, drooled a bit on the keyboard there.

Dragged him and the producer, Peter Szabo, away from the booth to ask them more about the movie and what the future holds for it. FYI, about 4 minutes in Reese and I started getting into a sarcasm-battle. I kinda kicked it off by implying that he was new to the horror genre. This was a blatant lie, but neither of us wanted to give in to the other so it kind of just kept rolling. This guy fucking lives in the horror genre. Eats brains for breakfast.

Episode, the Nineteenth

Welcome once again, you dozens of tens!

Limited Release - Now surfing the interwebs while we record for you. Behind the times a wee bit, aren't we? Who knew the internet could distract one from being productive?

This past weekend we attended the Simply Syndicated podcast meetup in Toronto. Candice went a little bit squee-crazy meeting some of the voice talents from Masters of None, Nerd Hurdles and a few others. Admittedly, these guys had some smooth voices. They had me at "hello", too. We also needed to represent Guelph and show face amongst the big boys.

When last we left you, we were recovering from what is clinically known as "review confusion". And it came from this riddle: what do you get when two completely separate series make the same, equal claim to infamy?

Infamous the Series
gets its chance this time around, but it's already off to a rough start with its lack of a website (we've commented on this in the past). This is a bit of a gem for us in that it is genuinely entertaining, has a couple of names attached here and there, and surprisingly is not as popular as it probably should be.

Remember when the world ended back in 2009? Everybody caught this weird skin rash and guys in hazmat suits invaded and started carrying people away? In case you don't, The Apocalypse Diaries can help you recall those good times. Refreshing to see the "post" removed from "post-apocalyptic" story for once. It uses a webcam setup, but that may be forgivable if you get to the episodes that involve audience submissions.

Listen here, or right click to save. You can also subscribe to Limited Release on iTunes and leave us a comment or two. Some suggestions include "Hey!", "Hello" and the ever-popular "Heyhey".

You can join in the discussion at our Facebook page, on Twitter or by email at backtalk at limitedreleasepodcast dot ca.

P.S. While we're off the topic, if George Lucas is going to continue changing the krayt dragon noise from Star Wars IV over and over, Monty wants to nominate this as the next sound byte used. Tell me that wouldn't be hilarious and unexpected.

Bonusode – Elize Morgan @ FanExpo ’11

Even though it was the end of the weekend and she was exhausted from running a game all night, Elize Morgan (creator of Pretty in Geek) was nice enough to give Monty the dish on her upcoming and highly-anticipated comedy series. Yes, it's about gamers and dice-rolling...but there are girls in it! Actually...living...breathing...attractive...girls. Let that sink in for a second.

We here at LR have reviewed a healthy number of webseries based in the realm of gaming, but this is indeed a rarity. Their booth always had a couple of the show's "dice babes" around, which doesn't do a good job of explaining why then it took me all weekend to get to them. But it was a treat to keep stopping by over and over again.

And to top it off, after talking with both Elize and Stefne (who plays "Anna"), Monty gets to roll for damage...

Bonusode - Rob Hunt @ FanExpo '11

LR was at FanExpo the other weekend. And so were many, many other people worth talking to. So let this be the first of a few bonusodes to come.

Monty was able to run around and chat with a good handful of web series creators while in Toronto. The convention did a good job of making the web-filmmaking community feel welcome amongst the nerd hordes.

Rob Hunt (director of Standard Action) was found wandering the exhibitor's booths, so he was stopped and questioned exhaustively. He gave up news on the supposed season finale of SA premiering that weekend at the Expo and the future of Edda, Fernando and their adventuring party's...adventures.

Episode, the Eighteenth

Nick has been traveling to nerd heaven while Candice has been eating at cardiac heaven. Hear a recap of the deep fried goodness Candice ate while Nick recaps his time at FanExpo on this new episode. The jury is still out on who had the better weekend, discuss.

After a quick tease of the bonusodes to come that Nick recorded at FanExpo we move on to our first webseries of the night, Meet the Mayfarers, which is straight up weird, and that's a good thing! It's incestuous and occasionally completely wacky and everyone is sleeping with everyone else. And sometimes they do it in turkey costumes. Mmmmm, turkey.

Then we move on to Infamous the Series, or wait maybe it's Infamous Web Series. What? Two shows with the same name? This is confusing. Which one was Nick talking about when he suggested watching Infamous?

Way back in Episode, the Eleventh we reviewed The Game Rev and they let us know about another project their producers worked on called Infamous the Series. Meanwhile Nick has been traveling to conventions and meeting people all across North America and met John Chambers of Infamous Web Series while at GenCon.

Turns out Infamous Web Series was the show Nick meant for us to watch, but after hearing a brief description of Infamous the Series he's decided we may come back to that one and do a proper review.

And once again Nick and Candice are divided on whether each show is good. Listen here, or right click to save. You can also subscribe to Limited Release on iTunes and take a second while downloading to leave us a review!

You can join in the discussion at our Facebook page, on Twitter or by email at backtalk at limitedreleasepodcast dot ca.

What? A new email address? Yes, we agreed the reason people rarely email us is because they only had to type 31 characters and that just wasn't enough. So we came up with a longer email address! You can now type 33 characters!

Also, keep an eye out for our new website as we get it looking all super duper.

Bonisode - GenCon '11

Limited Release was at GenCon in Indiana a couple of weekends ago. Monty met up with a couple of filmmakers, Chris and Anne Lukeman of Kill Vampire Lincoln Productions. They had a couple copies of their latest short film they were there to promote, Once Upon a Time in 1972, which had THE most stylishly cool packaging! (check it out on the right)

They must have fallen for Monty's ruggedly-handsome looks and Robert Goulet-like voice, because they followed him all the way to Wizard World in Chicago last weekend. Almost the entire weekend went by before we got a chance to sit down and chat officially, but even at the tail end of the con they were still full of energy and willing to spare a few minutes for LR.

Listen to the interview here or download through iTunes. Check out their website for the trailer of Once Upon a Time in 1972 and see some of their awesome merch available. They've got KVL brandy sniffers, people! These are some classy, stylish bitches!

Episode, the Seventeenth

Let's talk about relevancy, baby!

Our audio engineer, Soch, hath returned from his much-needed vacation and therefore Candice and Monty have returned to the web-air.

Monty has been off traveling to several conventions. getting opportunities to meet some beautiful webseries folk, like David Nett (Gold the Series, Night of the Zombie King) and Mike Fly & Simon Fraser (Sexy Nerd Girl), not to mention Valerie Lapomme herself.

While Candice has joined up with a girl gamers guild, including former LR guest Lovina Yavari. What a suh-weet job!

One series that has been on our radar since the very beginning (way back, like a whole 2/3 of a year ago almost!) has finally made it into one of our episodes, Vampire Mob. Just fresh into its 2nd season, the mockumentary-style vampire crime drama has been very determined in delivering itself to the world.

About this time, it's important to note that a debate has been sparked in this episode which has not been settled (like anything does between the two of us) but is bound to resurface for many episodes to come. For extra reading material on the subject (i.e. ETEWAF), I refer our listeners to the following article by Patton Oswalt over on Wired Magazine.

The debate in question was brought on by our review of the fantasy-comedy JourneyQuest by Dead Gentlemen Productions. They were kind enough to give us a DVD copy of the entire 1st season when we ran into them at GenCon in Indiana!

Episode, the Sixteenth

Remember us? We used to do a show where we watched and reviewed web series... now we do a show where we chat chit for 20 minutes and spend 8 minutes reviewing web series.

Nick tries valiantly to carry the episode while Candice is struggling with a sharp jabbing pain over the left eye and the need to spew.

We start off by covering Polaris 25 which happened recently in Toronto (July 16th - 18th) and spend a fair amount of time talking about the folks at Sexy Nerd Girl and their multimedia, or transmedia, story development. Hopefully it won't be long till we can cover this show officially.

Also represented at Polaris was upcoming web series Pretty in Geek, previously covered by us Tights and Fights and one of the shows we review in this episode, Standard Action.

Nick makes a brief mention of his moment of stardom on stage during the Constellation Awards.

Eventually we make it to the reason we have gathered. Standard Action and Blood and Bone China. The little amount we spend discussing the shows in no way represents how much we enjoyed them.

Episode the Fifteenth

Welcome to Episode the Fifteenth where we spend more time talking about shows we didn't watch and review than we do talking about the two we watched, Six Figures Tv and Girl Number 9.

After a frustrating attempt at finding a series to watch Nick lays down the law and throws a challenge to web series creators everywhere in this episode. And wow, did he have a lot to say!

Our recording was delayed by a week since one of the three members of this team was constantly away from the rest for about a week and a half. This didn't make us any more prepared to record however since the task of choosing a show to review seemed to be the most difficult thing Nick did all week, and Candice watched the show she chose three weeks before and couldn't even remember what it was!

So, help us out, how do you decide which web series you want to watch? And how can you help Nick in his search for the next great show about zombie cheerleaders (or whatever obscure genre he chooses for next episode)?

Eventually we come around to the shows we watched and find Six Figures TV to be a refreshing take on six friends in LA trying to make it in the entertainment industry.

Girl Number 9 however proved difficult to like since we couldn't watch it! Their website makes all their videos private. Anybody find a way to watch this program, cause it does sound like a good one. Candice luvs star Gareth-David Lloyd and Nick has a sick fascination with serial killers so we really want to give this show a good look.

Episode, The Fourteenth

So a week ago we recorded a new episode. Then Nick did his part and converted it and uploaded it to our Libsyn account. And then he left town for work and I shirked my responsibility.

Here's the deal, we watched a couple shows, we didn't love them, we talked about them, listen to us here or right click and save to your computer.

We checked out Throwing Stones and Gasland and weren't very impressed with either. Which is too bad cause they both have a lot of potential.

We also talk about the lack of good or even any horror webseries. There seems to be myriad comedy shows (whether actually funny or not) and a fair amount of dramas, but we've come across very few horror series.

And behold, our compatriots over at Those Video Guys see the same trend and offered their opinion on the topic on their live episode today.

Let's pretend I purposely didn't post our new episode till today so that I could include their episode as well ;-)

Reach us in the usual ways to tell us you love this episode, or if you really enjoyed these two shows, or if you have any suggestions of awesome horror webseries.

Join us on Facebook, send us an email at limitedreleasepodcast at gmail dot com and follow us on Twitter at @lmtdrelease

And since I'm clearly not responsible enough to post these episodes in a timely fashion, why don't you subscribe to us on iTunes so you'll never have to wait for me? While you are there, please consider leaving us a review. It would make our day.

Episode, the Thirteenth

Welcome, you dozens of tens!

Things got a little strange here, which is fitting for our lucky 13th episode. Candice talks about her eventual death and retirement from podcasting, Monty strongly advises her to get laid (those who know us knows what's bizarre with that scenario) and an incredibly new and unique term is coined. It's around the 12 minute mark, listen for it and spread it around.

It's a Padgett smörgåsbord! We show no mercy as we turn eyes onto both Life From the Inside, self-coronated "best TV show on the Internet" and Vampire Zombie Werewolf, both children of Padgett's brain. And both titles seem to escape Candice completely.

Life From the Inside follows a retired, agoraphobic, English-language, obscure, foreign holiday, novelty songwriter (the best in the business) who finds himself suddenly broke and hopelessly falling for his building's superintendent. Not surprisingly, there are many comical and unexpected scenarios that can be produced with this setup.

Vampire Zombie Werewolf is...well, about a couple of Vampire-Zombie-Werewolves. Trying desperately to fit in with society and the neighbourhood's bloodsucking clique, the married couple also meet with a very anxious webseries producer to pick his brain apart...sometimes almost literally.

Meanwhile, Monty announces advertisements that will be posted on Kijiji offering up friendship, fandom and lovin'. Let the bidding war begin!

EDIT: As it turns out, Kijiji has policies against such posts and has sent me a firm yet fair e-mail to cease soliciting myself using their service. Life=1, Monty=0.

Episode, The Twelth

Welcome to the debauchery! We start off with a bang... poor Bert.

And poor Jason... he had to follow our introduction!

We try something new tonight and have a phone interview with Out With Dad's Jason Leaver. We love his show and reviewed it in Episode the Sixth. He's here to talk about the plans for Season 2 which has been in production for about a month, and will launch on July 7th. We also discuss their release schedule for Season 2, which was cleverly announced with this video.

We wrap up our experimental episode with a bit of news from the web series world. Blip TV has just launched their new site, and we've already found new series to review in the future. Pretty The Series is actively campaigning for a season 3. And Nick is now actively campaigning along with the creators of Microwave Porn for a XXX-rated version of their series.

Listen to the episode here, right click to save to your computer, or subscribe to us on iTunes!

Also, check out our new logo, designed by Synn Studios intern Chris Feres, which we will be incorporating into the website...soon.

Episode the Eleventh

We were starting to think this episode would never happen! Due to extreme real life deadlines we were forced to record a week later than our regular release date. And due to extreme real life deadlines finally being met and passed we were forced to do nothing for the last two days, really nothing.

Those of you who subscribe to our podcast on iTunes will know that we released our newest episode on Wednesday, but we (being Candice) are just getting around to this post today!

So, welcome back everyone.

Our return episode, after 4 weeks since last sitting in front of the microphones, is reminiscent of our pilot episode. What is it that we do here again?

In this one we talk about two gaming shows, The Online Gamer and The Game Rev. Similar topics, but you can't find two more different shows.

The Online Gamer, created by Reckless Tortuga, is about an angry FPS game player who essentially takes his gamer tag and acts as that person offline as well as online. Not the type of person you want to meet in real life!

The Game Rev is about a bunch of stereotypical gamer nerds working for an online gaming magazine dealing with changes in management when a new editor in chief joins their team.

As per usual, Nick and Candice disagree on which show is better. At least some things haven't changed.

We were also joined in our booth by American History X Bert.

Episode, the Tenth

We made it! 10 episodes! Can you believe it? And not a drop of blood has been shed between us yet.

Without consultation Nick announces the Great Beard Contest of 2011. You, yes You, can have Nick's beard. What are you willing to do to get it? Make some offers and if we think yours is best Nick will shave beard exposing his cheeks to the world, while giving you the remains of his facial hair. Let's see if his power is in his beard.

In the meantime we share some feedback and try our best to stay serious for a moment. It doesn't last long.

The first series we watched this time around is Microwave Porn put out by the awesomely named production company, Cancel Proof. This series was suggested to us by Out With Dad creator and writer Jason Leaver, in response to Nick's cry for more shows with excellent theme songs. And this one delivered more than just a theme song.

Not only that, it reminded us of YouTube videos and porn related internet memes of yore!

We then move on to 00:24 The Series, a spoof of 24 the television series. Does the web need this type of series? Who knows, but we watch it anyway!

Before letting you all go Nick lets us know that one of our favourite shows, Pretty the Series, has released an audio commentary on one of their episodes. Let's all go watch it so we can talk about it next time.

Don't forget to join us on Facebook and Twitter, or send us an email at limitedreleasepodcast at gmail dot com.

Someone is paying attention!

A tweet this morning from Roger Ebert brought to my attention the controversy about Chrysler's recent ad for the Town & Country and it's uncanny familiarity. It seems they may have seen The Louise Log and thought creator Anne Flournoy was on to something.

Watch the ad below and then watch the great rebuttal from the folks at The Louise Log.

I don't know about you guys, but I think there is something fishy going on with that Chrysler commercial! But I also think Anne Flournoy has been very classy, and funny with her rebuttal. If the big boys are taking notice of the creative minds online and trying to duplicate what they are doing, well it's frustrating, but also a sign that they are doing something right.

Keep going Anne, doing what you do!

Ruby Skye P.I. Redux

Despite Nick's deep seeded childhood traumas leading him to over identify too much with Ruby Skye P.I., I really loved this charming tween mystery show.

I am excited and celebrating with them all of their LA Web Fest wins! See the press release for a complete list of wins. However I do still wonder what an "Interactive Narrative Comedy Series" is. I would have put their show in the mystery genre, or the kids or tween genre.

Also have a listen to our newest episode, The Ninth, to hear some further statements from Nick about his overreaction to Ruby Skye P.I.

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Episode, the Ninth

Nick takes the mic tonight to tell us his views on interactive web advertisements, the definition of web series, if our audio engineer should join us on the podcast, and more. Eventually he lets Candice join the conversation.

In our newest, jam packed episode we review Gold The Series and Night of the Zombie King, both created by David Nett, and also both available at the same website! We are very busy people, one less click means a lot.

But before that Nick mentions this article written by J. Warren "What is a Web Series?" Some great points are brought up. We want to talk about it, so please share your opinions with us.

But wait, that's not all! We also have a brief addendum to our heated debate about Ruby Skye P.I. You'll have to listen to find out what else Nick needs to say about what so far has seemed to be his least favourite show.

That's still not everything! We saved the best for last and make a revisit to CELL: The Web Series now that Nick has watched the final episodes of this award winning show.

You can have all this and more for the low, low price of absolutely nothing! We accept payment by comment, Facebook, Twitter and email at limitedreleasepodcast at gmail dot com

If you haven't already subscribed to us through iTunes, stream the episode here, or right click and save it.

And if you like what you hear, please review us at iTunes.

Congratulations to some of our favourite shows!

The Second Annual Los Angeles Web Fest happened this past weekend and it appears they really liked all the shows they aired! And a number that we have reviewed and loved here at Limited Release.

Some of our favourite shows, including The Virgin Mattress, CELL: The Web Series, Out with Dad, Ruby Skye P.I. and Night of the Zombie King (reviewed in our upcoming episode) were all awarded Sunday night.

The accolades were many including Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a number of genres, Outstanding Writing, Cinematography, Directing and a number of awards for score.

There are too many awards to list them all, but our brethren across the pond, Those Video Guys, have done a good job of posting them all on their site.

Have a look and discover many new web series!

Episode, the Eighth

Ah, sweet darkness of night, how we missed you. Never again will we record during the day, and I think you'll be able to tell the difference in this week's episode. Step inside our cushy womb and join us!

In my search for something new, something yet undiscovered (in my books), I scoured the internet for a noteworthy documentary web series. Ironically, my search ended with another man's own search. Jean Baptiste is chronicling his manhunt for a con artist who took him with sob story. This becomes the story for Where is Gary?, a documentary series with a look into the game of con artists.

Then the gloves come off. My co-host suggested something lighter this time around, Ruby Skye P.I., the self-described "comedy web series for tweens" (that should say enough about it). It should be pointed out that in the conceptual days of this podcast, the two of us discovered that when discussing movies, tv shows, anything really, we disagreed...a lot...no bullshit, a LOT. Constantly. Loudly. And to our friends' astounded amusement usually. Sometimes it would get ugly. This is a taste of that ugly. Enjoy!

Listen to Episode, the Eight here or download it here.

Stalk us on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Update: Since the recording of this episode of Limited Release, Candice and I have resolved our differences. We are currently working on strengthening our friendship and look forward to many peaceful, sensible discussions on independent entertainment for years to come.
...nah, total bullshit. We continue to irritate the crap out of each other.

Episode, the Seventh

This episode is as different from the rest as day is from night. Mostly because we had to record during daytime hours like normal human beings, unlike the usual vampire-like schedule we tend to keep. We've got sunshine, loud neighbours' music and cookies! Never again though, we'll try to do it in the evening from now on.

We bask in the aftermath of the great awards show...no, not THAT one. The 2nd Annual Indie Soap Awards went down this past Monday, with shows like Out with Dad and Pretty each going home (coming home?) with a win. Before they were famous, they were first on LR. Coincidence? By the way, the advantage to an awards show being focused on web series rather than Hollywood is that there's less importance placed on what everybody's wearing and more on, you know, the talent.

Speaking of the show, we're now available on iTunes. So you Apple tarts out there can easily pick up the latest episodes, toss 'em on your iPod and thereby take us wherever you go in your pocket. Creepy, eh?

A while back we noted a film-turned-web series, No Clean Break, which could be a sign that even Hollywood's future lies in web series. With big names like David Carradine and Michael Madsen attached, we take a look at how the production is making the jump from small screen to...smaller screen.

Next up on the block, something with a little more scramble to the egg: Cell. A bit of a mind-bender to a somewhat familiar story, it finds its character waking up caged, confused and held prisoner by a madman. But who hasn't had a Saturday night go that route, am I right?...Right?

Now that we're on iTunes, we are in need of a logo. A singular image to sum up our thousand words, so to speak. If you feel artistically-inclined, you too could achieve infamy like we have through LR. At the very least, give us your suggestions so we could can use them as input for the design. Or include a sultry photo of yourself in lingerie. All are good suggestions.

Welcome to our New Listeners

Judging by our stats in the last couple of weeks we have lots of new listeners! And you guys are going back to the beginning and listening to all of our episodes.

Welcome to all of you. Please let us know what you think of our show. You can email us at limitedreleasepodcast at gmail dot com. Or leave a comment here. Though it seems to be a losing battle trying to stop the texts to Candice's phone! I mean really, just because we know you doesn't mean you get special treatment.

Thank you all for listening. Our list of shows we want to watch just keeps getting longer and longer so we plan to keep podcasting forever, or a while at least. Thanks for coming along on the ride.

Episode, The Sixth

In our newest episode Nick has challenged all of our listeners to let us know what you think he looks like. Yes, we all come to the same conclusion that he has never looked at our page here. Let's not tell him his photo is readily available, let's just entertain him and describe him below in the comments.

We share some feedback this week from our listeners. We want to share more, so please let us know what you think. Comment below, tweet us @lmtdrelease , join our Facebook page and our discussions, or email us at limitedreleasepodcast@gmail.com. Despite Candice's comments, while we appreciate comments by text, please don't make it a habit, go online and tell the world.! Yeah, we're talking to you Kris, Scott and Nathaniel!

This episode we cover a couple of sex positive shows. One about making porn movies and one about a young teenage girl dealing with coming out of the closet to her friends and family.

Blue Movies, while being based on the set of porn films, is surprisingly funny and not nearly as pornographic as you would think! Amazing use of non-nudity in this one.

Big winner of the week, however, and it seems of our entire show so far, is Out With Dad. Hear us, both masculine and feminine, get melodramatic about this teen centred show.

Also, take a quick peek at the shows nominated in the 2nd Annual Indie Soap Awards. Some of our favourites, including Out With Dad and Pretty the Series are up for some awards. Congrats to all the web series creators, cast and crew, and good luck!

Episode, the Fifth

Nick's heart gets stomped on and crushed and before we even start talking about this week's series! He is now taking bids on both his friendship and his heart. Someone please help him out because co-host Candice is cold and just not buying.

We start this episode by chatting about a short film Nick found by a company from British Columbia, Growing Up Julianne.

Moving on to web series we talk The Virgin Mattress a fun little series that lead to a discussion about the how of watching web series.

There are two types of web series watchers, the ones who watch each new episode as they are released and the ones who wait until a bunch of episodes have been released and watch them all in a row. Which are you?

Then we move on to Tyranny a stylistic show with a sci-fi conspiracy. This one really drew the line in the sand. The first show we really didn't agree on. Who loved it and who hated it? Listen and find out. And let us know what you think of the show!

We also discuss the how of storytelling for web series. Web series is a very new medium and people are still testing out how to tell a serialized story over a long time, in short bursts. Watch out, we start dissecting in this episode.

Let us know, how do you watch your web series? And where do you watch them, on their home pages, on YouTube, on web tv networks? We want to know.

Episode, The Fourth

Previously on Limited Release...Tights and Fights, The Louise Log, Pretty The Series. That's right folks, it's a recap episode! Download at the page, listen here.

We take a look back at some of the series we've already reviewed to catch up on missed episodes. We also share some feedback we've received.

Anne Flournoy of the Louise Log responded to Nick's on air request for the missing episodes. The makers of Pretty the Series make wild accusations about Nick's sexual preference. Sure it's all true but how do they know? And Scott from Tights and Fights gives us a review of our show!

Now that we are back from our holidays our shows are going to be released much closer to the recording date, which makes it easier for us to make announcements! Like...

Log on to Twitter and follow Tights and Fights next twitter battle on January 22nd, and don't miss Pretty the Series second season finale on January 24th.

Fellow Web Series Fans Indie Intertube Celebrates 1st Year

Way over on the other side of the continent a bunch of media junkies got together a year ago to start a podcast, Indie Intertube, reviewing web series! Even though they stole our idea through time travel trickery we still enjoy their show and congratulate them on a full year of broadcasting!

To celebrate their first year they are giving away awards! The nomination announcement was on January 2nd. You can watch it live at here or at their website. They've nominated some great shows and we've put a lot of them on our to watch lists.

They are also doing an Audience Choice award, so if your favourite web series has been nominated be sure to give them a few votes. You can go back every 1/2 hour!

Congrats ladies on 1 year in business!

Episode, The Third

What happens when you put three Canadian superhero fans in a room together? We talk about Canadian superhero web series. Listen or download now!

But first we introduce our special guest host, Vamp from Complete Geek Radio, aka Lovina. Since we bring her up in each episode we thought we should give her a chance to defend herself!

This time around we watched a couple of homegrown, made in Canada, web series, Heroes of the North and Tights and Fights.

We also spend a considerable amount of time breaking our own rule and talking Hollywood gossip.

Merry Fucking Christmas and Welcome to 2011, Bitches!
